Hollings Cancer Center is the largest academic oncology facility in South Carolina and the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. It offers the gamut of cancer specialties, including medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgery. Research is organized into programs geared around cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment. The center’s Developmental Cancer Therapeutics Program seeks to discover and characterize unique agents and pathways that will lead to more effective cancer therapies, and then translate these discoveries into clinical applications by using proof-of-principle, early phase clinical and correlative science studies.
