James Cancer Hospital enjoys a sterling reputation for translating groundbreaking cancer research into innovative patient care. A founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, it is one the few National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers aligned with an academic medical center and based on the campus of a large public university, Ohio State. Care is structured around multidisciplinary teams consisting of surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, nurses, researchers and others who collaborate and make use of the latest in cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention modalities. Since the mid-1990s, James Cancer Hospital has recruited some of the world’s leading cancer researchers. Research is conducted as a collaboration between basic and clinical scientists. Open labs and shared resources promote working across disciplines and the efficient use of research funding, while drawing upon biomedical informatics data banks to facilitate the sharing of discoveries.
