The Rod Taylor Thoracic Care Center – occupying part of the 220,000 square foot Charles Lewis Pavilion – is one of nearly a dozen specialty cancer treatment units that make up the UF Health Cancer Center. The UF Health Cancer Center belongs to a larger group of central Florida facilities and medical centers operated by Orlando Health. The Rod Taylor Thoracic Care Center provides high-level, continuous care for mesothelioma patients and others with cancers affecting the chest region. The Center’s doctors believe in treating mesothelioma at the earliest stage possible in order to give patients the best chance of longer survival. Doctors also typically work in team fashion with nutritionists, mental health counselors, pain specialists, and others to help mesothelioma patients achieve the best possible quality of life. The doctors and staff conduct seminars from to present new research findings and treatment information that mesothelioma patients are likely to find valuable. The center was the first in central Florida to offer image-guided minimally invasive and robotic-assisted thoracic surgeries.
